8K HDMI cable

Hi
Just wanted to give some feedback . I had to get my Sony 5000 shipped back for repair etc . So since I had some time before I got the new Sony 5000 , I had time and opportunity to re-fish the HDMI cables you my hush box . Just like before I replaced previous two ( Monoprice and Ruipro) with Monoprice and ruipro fiber optic HDMI cables again ( 75 and 60 ft ) , but this time took chance on Monoprice 8k fiber optic cable , and it worked like a charm with no hand shake issues so far . I connected it directly to Strato first and no issues and then to Lumagen pro and image in 2 seconds . This is the screen shot with Strato connected to Lumagen pro by 6’ Monoprice premium HDMI cable and Sony 5000 connected to Lumagen pro via 75’ Monoprice 8k fiber optic cable

(4) Four 8TB USB 3.0 Seagate Back Up Plus External Hard Drives Used for UHD ISO

I have four External 8TB Usb 3.0 Seagate Drives for sale. All four drives really have minimal use on them as they were used for storage of my 4K UHD ISO files before transferring them to my new NAS. All four work perfectly and I have never had an issue. I would like $500 shipped for all four drives. I would also need you to tell me how you would like me to format them before shipment. I can do NTFS, exFAT, APFS, or whatever you would like. Easiest way to get hold of me is my user ID at g mail as I often forget to log in here and frequently miss pm's.

Does/will the industry hype of 8K benefits effect future square trade warranties???

$

There was a definite difference between 720p and 1080p, and also 4K for HDR content. What you get as a fair value exchange seems to be a combination of purchase price and features, with more of an emphasis on comparable features. I am wondering if not spending a few extra bucks now on an 8K might not make sense even though the actual benefit is in name only? Especially because I want a 5 year warranty.

HT1070 - did my lamp fail?

My lamp has a lot of hours on it. When you turn the projector on, the benq logo comes out, projected on the screen. Then, after like 30 seconds. The projection turns off and the cooling fan speeds up faster than I've ever heard it and the red 'lamp' indicator light comes on.

I just wanted to make sure there isnt something else wrong and waste $200 ordering a lamp

Newer Harmony remote and RF preformance?

$

I have had a Harmony 900 with all my equipment in a cabinet in a room directly behind the TV. So the remote has to go thru the TV to get to the hub. It works pretty good. Has some delays, lags, things seem to queue up, and sometimes just doesn't work. Though in general has been OK. Surprised there is no new model as looks like the Elite's been around a while but after a number of issues with the 900 rebooting and not coming back decided to buy an Elite. Is the RF pretty much the same as the 900 or should I expect improvement? Assuming anyone physically knows.

Thanks.

Blaster vs ir emitter

If you had a choice between using an ir emitter that is connected to the device with the sticky and has a cover on it, vs using a blaster, which would you choose? Or are they pretty much the same as far as responsiveness?

Thanks.

I’m so green

I’m just starting my build. Although I have a decent back ground In audio I’ve been absent for years. I’m very DIY and have extensive building and fabrication experience. I’m hoping to take advantage of some equipment I currently have. I have B&W speakers 2xCM9s2 2xCM8s2 2xCM5s2 CMC and AWS 850 sub. I have a parasound 200 x5 and two rotel 200x2 amps. I’m looking for suggestions on a pre amp Pro and a projector possibly TV. I’m also looking at atmos. My room is about 15x14. My biggest decision is 7.1.4 / 5.1.4/ 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 I’ve now met with three different “ home theater installers” all three tried selling me different equipment or tried to lead me in opposite directions. My viewing distance is about 10 ft. What size screen should I have? Should I use a projector or 85” TV. I’ve spent hours researching but I’m still so far from experienced or educated. Any advice before I start building soffits and running wire would be great.

Denon AVR-X1600h Zone 2 "Source" on Remote

$

I setup a Denon AVR-X1600h with an external crown Cdi 1000 2 channel amp connected to Zone 2. I currently only have LF & RF speakers. Everything works great except the issue I have is if I listen to music from HEOS (built into AVR) on Zone 2 and then want to switch back to TV there is no where on the remote, Web GUI, or HEOS App to select "Source" (Whatever the Main Zone is playing) for Zone 2. You can only do it from the front panel of the receiver. Instructions say Zone 2 will play whatever the Main source is playing so I've tried switching back to Main Zone selecting HDMI 1 Source but when you switch back to Zone 2 it stays on HEOS unless you select Zone 2 Source from the front panel.

Is there some trick on the remote to select "Source" for Zone 2. Source seems to be the only input not available on the remote (Remote source inputs - CBL/SAT, DVD, Blu-ray, Game, Aux, Media Player, Phono, TV Audio, Tuner, USB, Bluetooth, Internet Radio, and HEOS). Selecting any of these does not play the Main Source out of Zone 2 from the remote.

Thanks
Fisher

SVS SB-1000 or Rythmik L12

I have finally narrowed it down to these 2 subs due to size and finish. WAF & and neighbor consideration as well...

Small second home condo total 692 sq ft. Room is 12’ 9” x 19’ 4” x 9’ ceiling, open floor plan. 70” Vizio display. Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar with Room correction. Probably 50/50 music/movies.

SVS SB-1000 or Rythmik L12, can check the SVS at BB but not the L12 of course. Thoughts?

Thinking about painting , please help

I currently have a JVC RS520 projector and a 103" Seymour XD AT screen in a pretty good light controlled room (as say pretty good as I still have white ceiling due to WAF, but hope to install a black retractable black velvet canopy). I love the screen, but was thinking of going to a painted wall (to go bigger) and perhaps a DIY masking system and also a brighter picture with more HDR pop (even at the larger size) - so I need more gain than a AT screen can provide. though at the same time want to maintain the beautiful colors (within reasonable accuracy) with minimal hotspotting. i.e. I'd like to get as close as I can (within budget) to OLED
I live in NY (10952) and don't have a Menards near me (Home Depot ,Lowes and Ace). My skill set is basic (i.e. I've successfully painted walls using a roller and single can - i.e. no mixing experience). also don't have a paint sprayer, so if that's a must, it would need to be factored into the cost.
Can you spell out your suggestions with a how-to

Also, what differences should I reasonably expect vs. a Stewart Studio Tek 130 G4?
Lastly, I'd like to go as big as possible, without losing much brightness (who isn't) but throwing it out there.
thanks!!

Why are LCD/LCOS projectors like Epson and JVC so large in size?

Why are LCD/LCOS projectors like Epson and JVC so large in size compared to their DLP counterparts? I am surprised by the size of some of these projectors. Can someone shed some light on it? Has it something to do with their technology?

Monitor Audio Silver RS6 and matching center channel. $1,000.

Excellent pair of Monitor Audio RS6 speakers and center channel. They served our home theater well for many years, but it was time for an upgrade. Speakers themselves and grills are perfect with only 2 flaws in the cabinets. Spikes included, but not pictured.

I do not have the original packaging, so local pick up or nearby meeting preferred. Mineral Point, WI 53565.

Small dent in rear of one of the standing cabinets. The top of the center channel has shiny spots in the finish. I tried to take a photo of it.

Found a KURO; Dumped my Panasonic

$

Found a Kuro 6020 at a second-hand shop for $120. Paid $130 and change, tax included. Really great PQ, no issues so far. If it holds up, I'll be really happy. The risk is I don't know the TV's history. Tried to get into the service menu to figure out the mileage, but no luck. At that price, figured it was alright to take a chance so I just grabbed it. The people in the store were ogling it, the store owner saying "I didn't know it had a picture like that!" so I figured I'd better make the deal before he raised the price (I'd bargained him down $20 before turning it on, and he had it marked down from the $350 it was at before Christmas) or someone started bidding against me. People don't know what these plasmas can do but seeing is believing. I figured some guy with a $2,500 QLED at home would say, "Wait!, what?, how much are you wanting for that?"

So far so good with the Kuro. No red shift or blinking blue lights. Took a chance and sold my Panasonic P60ST60 for as much as I could manage to get in a week on Craigslist. The sum was all of $150 -- so $20 more than I paid for the Kuro but the downside is I know the Panasonic was low mileage since I bought it new and haven't used it much. The PQ of the Kuro is better but the P60ST60 wasn't far behind. I could have held it longer and maybe gotten $200 but it wasn't worth the time or effort. The market for old plasmas is what it is -- in other words, amazing if you're buying and horrendous if you're selling.
