LCD Repairs or Do I Need a New Screen?

Hey guys I have a Bush 40" Smart TV

Not an expensive TV thankfully, but anyway the other day I accidentally caught the screen with something sharp in the top right corner. There's a small scratch which isn't visible when the screen is on however where the initial impact was you can feel it when rubbing your finger across and there is a white dot (I think its either a stuck/dead pixel or the dent has pushed the liquid out of that area of the screen and leaving the back light to shine through?)

Anyway I am pretty sure there's nothing I can do but it's so annoying knowing its there so I thought I'd post on here to see if anyone has any fixes, even if they wont repair it fully; but anything to make it slightly less noticeable.

WiFi Adapter UWA-BR100 - Suddenly Low Signal Strength

I have been using the Sony WiFi Adapter UWA-BR100 connected to my Sony model BDP-S470 Blu-Ray player for four years and have always had 100% signal strength. Recently, after having the wifi connection fail several times, I found the signal running between 5% & 18%. No changes were made in my router or modem and there have been no recent software updates to any equipment. Connecting adapter to my TV also gave the same results. The built in wifi in the TV shows 100%.

Do these adapters just go bad after a period of time or is there something else I missed?

New system set up Help!

I am completely new when it comes to surround sound systems and I have what I am guessing is an unusual question. I just bought my first AV receiver today and am trying to set up the sound. Currently I only have two rear speakers so I am wanting to use my tv speakers in addition to the two rear ones. The guy at best buy said it can be done, but cannot figure it out. All I can do is either have sound just coming from the rear speakers and none on the tv or all sound from tv and none from rear speakers. I am going to buy more speakers for my system but for now I want sound from both tv speakers and rear speakers. Thanks in advance!

Multi Zone Sound

I have a denon 1712 with klipsch 2.1 sound. I live in a 2 story house about 1200 sq ft. I want to be able to listen to the same sound on both floors without running wires. What is my best and most cost effective solution? I can have two speakers provide sound for the second floor.

BenQ W1070/HT1075 VS W1100?

Hey guys, I've lurked around your forums plenty before and have found lots of help troubleshooting projectors. But this time around instead of fixing something up to sell I've decided to pick something out for my own theatre.

The room I'm going to be using is light controlled and acoustically dampened. I'll be projecting on a 12ft wall from a 15ft throw.

As a hobby I like fixing up electronics, so I navigate around used auctions a lot of the time and I've found some real bargains. The last projector I used for a theatre was a business-oriented Mitsubishi XD-490U. Which isn't very good for a theatre, but I scored it for $50 with two OEM lamps. I've since resold it for plenty more than I paid for it, and having been a bit spoiled by the size of it I can't go back to a TV. So this time around I'm going to pick out something for the long term. I'm looking at PJ's around the $1000 mark, and from what I've heard the W1070 is the best thing around for that price (or 1080ST depending on room size). Now with the HT-1075 out I believe that's supposed to be the upgraded 1070, so correct me if I'm wrong on that.

So coming from an old Mitsu XGA projector, I'm sure anything I choose will blow me away. So when you speak about things like black levels, realize I'm happy with anything matching or above what that had. Which weren't blacks... they were light greys. I thought the colors were the best I'd ever seen, and this was on a 2x five segment R/G/B/W/Y color wheel. With that I'll mention, colors are the most important detail to me on the projector. I like vivid colors, perhaps even a bit too saturated.

So the deal is that the BenQ w1070 is around $800, (refurb $600) or more if you're shooting for the new model. From what I've seen I can grab a W1100 for half that price at auction. 3D for me is more of a gimmick, I don't watch any 3D movies so anything I do watch will be converted. If I were watching natively 3D movies, I'd be a lot more convinced. So with that in mind, how does the 2D performance compare? I've heard a lot of comparison with the 1200 and the 1100, where the 1200 undoubtedly wins. But I've also heard the W1070 is near just as good as the W1200 was. So I'd like to know if for half the price I'm getting half the quality of a W1070, or if they're generally the same.

New 2-Channel Set-up in room with small echo

I'm looking into a new setup for the upstairs living room / dinning area. Its about 400square feet with laminate floors and has a bit of an echo compared to other carpeted rooms in the house. You can't tell there is an echo in normal conversation, but when talking on the phone, the person on the other end can tell when I have gone into the living room.

I'm replacing an old Sony set-up from the early 90's. I don't want to go too overboard as its not the most ideal listening room, however I do enjoy playing jazz and blues up there for myself and guests. I would really like a digital input to play digital files via bluetooth from a phone or some type streaming device like a Sonos connect. I also have a record player with 50+ vinyls I play.

I recently herd the Polk RTiA7s in a showroom, and they sounded pretty good to my ear for the money.

After hearing those I was thinking about going with the RTi10 speakers from polks ebay store and driving them with a Yamaha A-S501.

Do you think these would do well for this room?
Will I have enough power with Yamaha to drive the Polks?
Any recommendations to minimize an echo?

Soundbar No Arc

Ive been searching Google and YouTube about soundbars and how to hook them up with multiple devices but I am so lost.
The TV is a Samsung 60" Plasma model # PN60F5300AFXZA it looks like it does NOT have ARC. It has two HDMI In's one says DVI other STB also has Optical audio out.

The soundbars im looking at are either the Samsung hw-h450 or the Sony HTCT260H Looks like Both have an HDMI in and out digital optical inputs

Im just so lost on how it all works when a PS4, TV, and Cable Box all need to be hooked up.

This is how I understand it... PS4 will be hooked up with the red,white, yellow cables. cable box in the HDMI in, and Tv to soundbar using optical audio cable. But I am just confused on where ARC plays into this. The TV does not have it. So will the Audio from all devices be coming out of the soundbar? Will not be optimal without HDMI ARC?

While im asking this question what soundbar do you prefer? or any other similar in price Sony is 190 and samsumg is 220.

Sub not active during songs

Hi, I have B&W 683 speakers, Boston M active subwoofer and Denon X5200 av reciever, which is an upgrade from previously owned Denon 1713. I noticed that during stereo music reproduction, as well as in stereo content on TV, my subwoofer does not play...ever. Unlike in surround audio formats. Can anyone help troubleshoot it? (it worked normally on previous reciever)

Choosing the right TV Media Centre

Okay, I need some advice.

I am currently using the TVIX 3D S2 and I am very happy.

But I need to purchase a new media centre, unfortunately TVIX 3D S2 is no longer available.

I am confused between the these 3 options:
  1. KDLINKS HD720 Extreme FULL HD 1080P 3D Media Player
  2. Dune HD Base 3D Network Media Player
  3. Asus O!Play TV Pro

I will mostly use it to watch media from my a 4Tb HD that I plan to insert in these Media players and connect it with my TV via HDMI cables.

Which is the best option out of the 3 listed? Is there a better option that I am not aware off? Also is there a TV Media Centre that supports 4K resolution?

Hi guys, I am a newbie in this forum. I bought a pair of Energy C-500B speakers several years ago. Now I have space to add a center speaker. There is a XL C-100 on the craigslist. I am wondering if this center speaker a good (or at least acceptable) match for C-500B?

JAMO AVR-693 for Computer Audio

Hi,

I've just received my new amp and I'm having trouble getting sound out of it from my computer.

I've have the optical out from the PC connected to optical 1 input. I have the speakers setup (front, surround, sub).

Now on the PC there is a test mode where you can test DTS audio and Dolby digital. When I do this test I DO get sound out of each of the 4 speakers, so I'm pretty sure my connections and setup are ok. The problem is when I start a game, or play music, there is no sound.

On the display of the amp the DD is lit red. My guess is that the amp is trying to interpret my digital input as some form of dolby encoding, but my PC is just putting out PCM. But thats just a guess....

Also the display says sp/dif unlock... whatever that means.

Can anyone help me to get this working? Basically I want to be able to use the surround amp for PC games audio.

Possible to add 2 rear speakers to soundbar setup?

A friend of mine has a Polk Magnifi soundbar (got it for a good price, otherwise wouldn't have bothered) and is trying to add 2 rear speakers to this. I've been looking over ways to do this, and have come to the conclusion that he would likely need a receiver rated to at least 500w+, plus 2 rear speakers of "decent" quality. Is it possible to connect this soundbar to a receiver? And are there any suggestions for reasonably cheap (sub-$500) speaker solution while have reasonably decent audio quality?

I just discovered BluRay Audio only disks. I bought 2 so far and I seen the list for all titles available and I was wondering are ALL these Audio ONLY Releases Multichannel??


IF so this could be what we MC heads been wanting a single format that many have available player wise..

Life of a King, Cuba Gooding Jr.

Cuba knocks it out of the park in this tale of hope and enlightenment while being surrounded and defeated by modern social structures. Like Freeman in Lean on Me, Gooding portrays a real life mentor to down and out kids in Washington D.C. Using prison savvy and the game of chess he reaches a few youngsters and starts mending his own life.

In many ways this is a great endpoint in Cuba's arc from Boyz N the Hood and kind of brings that life full circle.


If you like Mr. Holland's Opus, the aforementioned Lean on Me, and the more recent Whiplash you should give this a go.
