Four pairs of B&C 8CX21 8-in. coaxial speakers, either in enclosures are just the guts (drivers, XO’s, terminals, ports, foam stuffing, and fasteners).

Asking $295/per pair + half of shipping (see below for estimates), or pick up for free in Mountain View, CA 94043
Price is the same with or w/o boxes; the latter is a loser for me because I’ll have to spend time to disassemble and pack the components, and suffer the psychic pain of my work building the boxes going to waste.
These are suitable for mains (when used with a subwoofer) or surrounds/Atmos heights.
Full mfgr spec’s including polars are here:
http://www.bcspeakers.com/products/coaxial/8-0/8/8cx21 .
Also see below for what I measured with DATS WT3 Woofer Tester and OmniMic.
It agrees closely with what I measured; B&C is known to be one of the few mfgr’s that doesn’t sugar-coat their spec’s.
The boxes are ¾-in. MDF, 16 in. x 10 in. x 6 in.; internal volume is .25 cf and they’re tuned to 75 Hz with 2-in. Precision ports.
They use the matching B&C XO-1 crossovers.
Materials cost was about $260 ea.
These drivers are easily equal to JBL in quality, with 94 dB efficiency (verified by test and experience; lots of sound w/little power), high power handling, and low power compression.
The woofers have low distortion motors with shorting rings, and the compression drivers (the throats are partially visible in B&C_CD.jpg) have polyester diaphragms for smooth sound (no metal diaphragm breakup).
These coax’s have been used by Tom Danley in the SM100 and Mark Seaton in the Spark (not sure, but Mark may have used a different model of 8-in. B&C coax).
Besides the general benefit of coincident source sound with its even off-axis response, coaxial’s are particularly suitable for surrounds because the woofer and tweeter radiation are integrated very close to the speaker.
Listeners tend to be much closer and/or be well off-axis from the surrounds, which with conventional speakers can result in ragged response.
Also these coaxials are better than most in having a pretty good approximation to controlled directivity, meaning the SPL diminishes smoothly off-axis with much less loss of treble compared to conventional tweeters.
This means you can cross-fire them (toe them in) to get more even SPL across the listening area; see

In case anyone cares, the internal wiring of systems 5, 6, 7, and 8 are 16 ga copper/silver speaker wire as opposed to the red and black hookup wire in systems 1, 2, 3, and 4 (the internals pictures are of system 1).
Sample shipping costs per pair (Fedex Home Delivery):

I’m selling them because they’re too big to have eight of them in the room (7.2.4 system), and it turns out I don’t listen anywhere near loud enough to need their output capability.
